Rev. William Burnett

Rev. William Burnett

 

Rev. William Burnett was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey and is the oldest of eight children, born to William and Shirley Burnett.  He was educated in the South Brunswick Township public school system and served in the United States Army.  He accepted the Lord as his Savior in January of 1987. In 1992, he was ordained as a Deacon at the Wayne Avenue Baptist Church in Trenton, NJ under the leadership of Rev. Nathaniel Benjamin, Jr.  As a Deacon, he assisted the Pastor as needed, in order to help promote the spiritual welfare of the membership. He was an active member of the Deacon’s Union for Trenton and Vicinity and participated as an advisor for the Deacon’s Union Youth Ministry for college bound students. He was a spiritual advisor for the Senior Usher Ministry and Mother’s Ministry of the Wayne Avenue Baptist Church.

 

In January 2000. he acknowledged his calling to the ministry.  He preached his trial sermon on May 7, 2000 and was ordained in June of 2003. He is a graduate of the Philadelphia Biblical University, in Langhorne, Pennsylvania (now Cairn University).  As an Associate Minister at Wayne Avenue Baptist Church he was an active member of the Sunday School Ministry as a teacher for the Adult and Senior/Intermediate Classes. He served as youth advisor for the Teen’s for Christ Ministry, which was designed to promote spiritual growth, Christian service, and youth fellowship for members between the ages of 13-19. He participated in the outreach youth ministry for the Jamesburg Youth Correction facility, and served as a motivational speaker for the Market Street Missions in Morristown, New Jersey.

 

Rev. Burnett is the owner of W.R. Burnett Trucking and Paving, Inc., a family operated business that has provided quality service to the Mercer, Middlesex and surrounding counties for over thirty years.  During this time, the company has expanded from a single owner-operator establishment to its current status of 15+ employees.  For the past thirty years, the trucking division has been the main contractor as well as a sub-contractor for a number of major construction projects throughout New Jersey.  The paving division was established in 1991 and through the leadership of Rev. Burnett, a number of employment opportunities were made available. In addition, his company has participated in charitable projects such as, The Gregory School Playground Project.  W.R. Burnett Trucking and Paving is an equal opportunity establishment that has also provided on the job training in an attempt to reach out to those who are in need within the community. Based on his efforts and advisement, additional minority trucking and paving businesses have been established.  Rev. Burnett truly praises God from whom all blessings flow. 

 

William Burnett and his wife Anita, reside in Monmouth Junction, in South Brunswick Township.  He is the   father of six sons William Burnett, Darnell Burnett, Shawn Burnett, Andre Burnett, James Burnett, and Khatan Merrill (Deceased), and grandfather of eighteen.

 

In December of 2008, he became one of the founders and the Pastor of the Greater Hope Baptist Church in Trenton, a ministry sponsored by Macedonia Baptist Church, where Rev. Keith Marshall is the Pastor.  On the third Sunday in January 2011, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, some of the members of The Greater Hope Baptist Church merged with the saints of the First Baptist Church of Eggerts Crossing.  On May 15, 2011, Rev. Burnett was installed as Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Eggerts Crossing.  The Spiritual leadership provided through Rev. Burnett, has cultivated agape love and continued growth in the Lord as one Christian Family.
